Introduction:

Built in 1870, Beijing Chongwenmen Christian Church was the first American Methodist church in Beijing. It was entitlted Asbury Hall in memory of Francis Asbury, the first Bishop of Methodist Church in America. Chongwenmen Church, well-known in China and overseas, is the largest existing Protestant church, constructed entirely with wooden structures in a uniquely novel semicircular fan-shape architectural style.
