Harald Buchmann is from Switzerland who’s been living in Beijing for six years now.
He is a senior research fellow at Intellisia, a truck lover, and an emerging social media influencer on Douyin, a popular Chinese video app, better known as Tik Tok in the English world.
Buchmann has about 25-thousand followers on the app. Most of his short videos are about truck drivers and their lives in China.
He said these drivers are traveling across the nation, and through talking to them, he learned how many highways in China had been constructed, how the transport system had been upgraded, and how people’s livelihood had been improved.
Through social media, Buchmann hopes to bring a real China to his people, in particular, the profound changes of the country over the past 7 decades since the founding of the Republic.
For more on this, CRI's reporter Xu Yawen earlier had a talk with Buchmann. Check out the following audio clip for the full interview.
